blogging groove

haven't really been a very consistent blogger. been doing some renovations and realized, i actually used to write about my life a bit. have been thinking it might be a good idea to get back into that groove. blogging started out for me a way to interact with friends. this was the time before facebook - wow! a friend told me about Xanga and i had a handful of friends, we read about each other's lives and as a bonus, we got a record to check back on and remember stuff.

i'm not really a very interesting person but i do find very interesting some of the older things in my blogging archive. today, i do most of my keeping up with friends on facebook or via cell phone or some other such mobile device - got my first cell phone for my last anniversary (2011)--but i think i'll revisit my blog a bit more and see if i can find that groove again.

this week in summary: sinus infection all week; boy had bronchitis but weathered it well. missed church last week, but am intending to make it tomorrow. hubs and the kids are scheduled to sing in the evening service with grandpa and the cousins. overall, not much happened beyond the normal grind. couldn't muster the energy to do more than exist. drank 4 gallons of mullein tea and still need a couple more i fear before all of the congestion is gone. i just praise God it wasn't any worse. it was draining and somewhat lingering, but it was an easy illness for the most part.

still need to get groceries this evening--that means a late supper. working on a new android (cell phone) application called toMarket (i think) for keeping and managing my shopping list. it's pretty cool - stores and sorts all items according to stores and individual store isles. i was using a paper shopping list of the "checklist" sort. i got the idea from jill on facebook. i really liked it, but was just a little unwilling to use up the paper and printer ink. this list works about the same way, but it's all digital and it's portable and i don't even need a pen to check the items off as i go.

had a lovely conversation with a lady friend from welltellme. she is now a llama farmer. how fun is that? welltellme has been good to me over the years. i've collected a few friends. can't wait until i have the funds and ability to travel around and hug them all in person.

not much else to report.

blog party

this is a party post for a blog party. for those readers who usually visit my blog, you can join in the fun as well until the 8th of April.

http://www.5minutesformom.com/34651/ultimate-blog-party-2011/

hmmmmm, i'm usually not one to be short on words, but this whole blog party thing has got me...well...speechless. in the public arena, i'm generally very friendly and forward, but i guess trying to make new friends via this blogging avenue seems, well...rather strange to me. but, here i sit, with way too much time on my hands. even with all the things i do, i never seem to have enough to do. strange.

i don't mind sharing a bit of this and a bit of that, but as most of friends already know, i reserve personal information such as photos, names, etc. for people that i've actually come to know and trust. my husband and i might be a touch on the paranoid side, i suppose, but that doesn't mean "they" aren't after me.

most of the time, my friends tell me i'm fun. i'm random. i'm crazy and i love starting my sentences with small letters instead of capitals. i dye my hair red with herbs. my clothes often don't match. i figure i'm 40 and i can get away with it and besides...nobody but hubs is lookin' at these hips anymore. bleh.

i like to cook AND clean. my husband is korean, so alot of the recipes i share are either korean or some other asian style of cooking (my mother-in-law has been instrumental in my ability to prepare korean food). i homeschool. i blog, network and work from home for an herb store. i answer customer service emails about health and herbal medicine. i make my own bread and a lot of messes. i also love to take pictures which really comes in handy when making new recipes, because i love to share pictures of the food i cook.

and although most of what i do online consists of writing, i don't consider myself a very good writer, which is why i most often choose to blog. no editor over my shoulder at blogspot.com.

i also have a degree in computer programming but haven't worked in my field in almost 10 years. after i lost my "real job" hubs and i decided it was time for me to stay home and start doing the "housewife" thang! this means i have a bit more puter saavy than some, but among my "peers" i'm fairly obsolete. i don't mind. i like who i am and what i do.

my kids and i have also recently started volunteering at the local animal shelter. because, i don't drive, we needed something close and the Lord blessed us, because the shelter is only a block away.

i don't have my profile posted on the front page, but it's me in a nutshell so i'll copy it here.
I'm descended from misfits. I love them all and hope to make them proud (especially my daddy) by finding the answers to life and holy marriage...as God designed it. I have a gorgeous, caring husband who continues to amaze me with his good qualities (especially those eyes) daily. He is my hero, my lover, my adviser and my companion. I have 3 beautiful replicas of myself and my husband (most people call these children). They continue to grow and show me a glimpse of myself (both good and bad) from another perspective. I now have a grandchild on the way (due in October). I also have 1 cat and 2 guinea pigs and a gaggle of good friends that the Lord has seen fit to grace me with.

anyway, i'm not sure if this is what the blog party hosts were looking for, but i suppose it's me.

new internet provider - broken links

my internet company has recently been swallowed up by another larger company. this means that all of my personal web storage has changed. this means to you, that many of the links in my previous blog entries may be broken and/or unavailable to you. if you find a pattern or a recipe that you can't get to, please, leave me a comment and i will fix it as soon as i can so that you may again have access to it.

blogger fun

i'm having toooooo much fun fixin' and changin' my blog template. kinda trying to learn (as i go) how to code xml and css a bit here and there. like the leaf dividers? i made them myself. some day i'll be smart enough to design a template from scratch, but it will probably have to wait until the dishes get done.

i shared the info i just learned about how to add the divider lines with a friend (check out potter's wheel and see her cool divider) and decided to post it for everyone else who might be interested.

i got my info from this site, but i'll be a bit more detailed in explaining if i can.

first, you need to go to your blogger dashboard and select "Layout". from there, click on "Edit HTML". you'll see a scrolling text box in the middle of the page with a bunch of gobbledeegook called XML. notice the little check box "Expand Widget Templates". make sure this box has a check in it before you begin. most "experts" recommend that you download a copy of your template before you start "just in case" you mess something up. i usually don't, but i like living on the edge. LOL

scroll down and find some code:

according to the above website:

Example 1:

however, i was unable to find this exact code in my template. i found instead something that looked more like this, but it appeared to be the place to put it considering the variable names matched, so i took a chance and it worked.

blogger's block

trying to get back into the hang of blogging for a spurt, but i'm uninspired. should i write poetry? nah. maybe a funny anecdote? no sense of humor today....so....where do i go from here?

maybe i'll think of something tomorrow.

technical difficulties

i'm currently attempting to find a better template for my blog. as you may know, this means that many of the shortcuts that i have previously installed have to be done over. sorry for any inconvenience, but i'm afraid my blog may be somewhat crippled for a short time.

blogging help?

Getting help from an expert on how to change some code on my blog.

This is a screen shot of all the links and things on my blog using yesterday's post. The red arrow indicates space in the post section that was not inserted by me, but formatted in the code somehow.

Here is a mock screen shot of how I'd like column 3 to look.

more Xanga archives

I've added more posts from yet another blog. These are all the posts prior to 2 days ago that ARE NOT labeled as Xanga Archives - enjoy!

PS If you happen to stop by. Leave me a comment or two, even on the old stuff. :D

wouldn't you like to know?

I thought for awhile about what to title my blog. I finally decided on "Wouldn't You Like to Know?"

I hope to be inspired to have something of more value to share soon. Hope to see you then.

NOTE: You may notice that there are several posts dated prior to this one. This was actually my first post in Blogger, but I noticed how versatile this blog site is and decided to move all of my older blogs over from Xanga. Blogger has a nice feature which allowed me to backdate and therefore keep everything in it's original order. Way to go GOOGLE.

well tell me why i have writer's block

Uninspired

Hmmmm....I don't write much any more. I don't feel the tug of inspiration as often as I once did. Maybe because I'm too busy to allow my mind to wander and philosophize about things.

These days, I'm making herbal concoctions and witch's brews. I make 4 gallons of kombucha every 5 days. I make granola every week and homemade yogurt to eat with the granola. I found a good source for organic milk for a reasonable price, so I'm experimenting with making butter, whipped cream and yogurt with whole organic fat....mmmmm. I also had real cream in my coffee. Rich and delicious. For the past couple of days, I've been experimenting with making my own progesterone supplement cream - don't know how it turned out yet. I think it flopped, but I guess we'll see. I've increased my herb count from 3 to 3 dozen (or so) and now, I'm trying to figure out a better way to store them all. I'm trying to learn how to cook with a crock pot and a pressure cooker - heh heh. These things do NOT come naturally.

I was experimenting with beeswax, but those were all dismal failures, and I've given up on that for the time being. I stored the wax, so I can get back to it again when I'm more ambitious.

I'm crazy swamped in the forum these days and I'm loving every minute of it. (come visit me sometime at http://welltellme.com/discuss/index.php). We talk about everything from toenails to hair growth to hormone balance to natural diet and herbal healing. If you're into all that stuff, there's a lot to be learned from the many members we've already been blessed with and you can add you're own 2cents when you stop by.

Well, that's enough for now. Just wanted to check in with Xanga land, but hubby's home and needs some wifely attention.

Be blessed
disclaimer:  caution must be taken when reading my blog.  i'm a new creature and the Lord continues to mold and shape me through his will.  older entries may seem to contradict the newer ones.  there's a pretty good chance that they do for two reasons.  first, because of my nature, as i strive for perfection, i will continue to fall short of the mark and should therefore be thankful for his grace and should seek his (and your) forgiveness for having been so foolish in the past.   second, i continue to grow in him; and as changes are made, i have made attempts to change my blog to reflect those changes. in this event, please refer to #1.   if you're interested in perfection, my blog isn't the place to be.  pick up a king james bible (yup, i'm one of THOSE people) and read his PERFECT word.
