election woes

well...it's been an interesting night and i'm probably not the only one who is a little disappointed or skeptical about the election outcome. however, what i know about myself is that i am fallible and only as wise as my experience and faith allows, but my God is greater than any government or leader. if we continue to honor His word and thereby honor our new leader (when that time comes), He is faithful to protect His flock.

...the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

~Daniel 4:17

Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

~1 Peter 2:13-17

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

~1 John 3:22

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

~Luke 12:32

democrat or republican

This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

Marc Fencil: Student, Marine, Sharp Tongued Writer

Marc Fencil is a senior at The Ohio University. He is majoring in Political Science, Criminology, and Spanish. He won't be graduating this spring because his side job is currently keeping him very busy. Which side job is this?

Marc Fencil is also a Lance Corporal in the United States Marines and is one of the few & proud currently serving in Iraq.

Upon learning his fellow students in Athens, Ohio decided to stage a "Die-In" at College Gate, Marc decided to join them in spirit by writing a letter to the editor of the
The Post Online.

"It's a shame that I'm here in Iraq with the Marines right now and not back at Ohio University completing my senior year and joining in blissful ignorance with the enlightened, war-seasoned protesters who participated in the recent "die-in" at College Gate. It would appear that all the action is back home, but why don't we make sure? That's right, this is an open invitation for you to cut your hair, take a shower, get in shape and come on over! If Michael Moore can shave and lose enough weight to fit into a pair of camouflage utilities, then he can come too!

Make sure you all say your goodbyes to your loved ones though, because you won't be seeing them for at least the next nine months. You need to get here quick because I don't want you to miss a thing. You missed last month's discovery of a basement full of suicide vests from the former regime (I'm sure Saddam's henchmen just wore them because they were trendy though). You weren't here for the opening of a brand new school we built either. You might also notice women exercising their new freedom of walking to the market unaccompanied by their husbands.

There is a man here, we just call him al-Zarqawi, but we think he'd be delighted to sit down and give you some advice on how you can further disrespect the victims of Sept. 11 and the 1,600 of America's bravest who have laid down their lives for a safer world. Of course he'll still call you "infidel" but since you already agree that there is no real evil in the world, I see no reason for you to be afraid. Besides, didn't you say that radical Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance?

I'm warning you though -it's not going to be all fun and games over here. You might have bad dreams for the next several nights after you zip up the body bag over a friend's disfigured face. I know you think that nothing, even a world free of terror for one's children, is worth dying for, but bear with me here. We're going to live in conditions you've never dreamt about. You should get here soon though, because the temperatures are going to be over 130 degrees very soon and we will be carrying full combat loads (we're still going to work though). When it's all over, I promise you can go back to your coffee houses and preach about social justice and peace while you continue to live outside of reality.

If you decide to decline my offer, then at least you should sleep well tonight knowing that men wearing black facemasks and carrying AK-47s yelling "Allahu Akbar" over here are proud of you and are forever indebted to you for advancing their cause of terror. While you ponder this, I'll get back to the real "die-in" over here. I don't mind."

fast food nation

A MUST READ!!!

FAST FOOD NATION: GOOGLE BOOKS

This book a little difficult to read in the first chapters as they tend to remind me of old text books from highschool filled with history and facts that don't seem to affect me, but I trudged on. I'm very grateful that I did. Once you begin to realize how these mundane somewhat trivial facts begin to turn into corporate deception, lack of humanity and a threat to our very way of life, your eyes will open and you'll begin to understand the need for everyone to be made aware of these atrocities against Americans and other cultures around the world. We spend our days backseat driving our politicians and football players while something we take for granted is quietly taking control of our diet and stealing our health from us while we pay them to do it.

If you have ever eaten a hamburger or a french fry and you can read, you shouldn't go another day of your life with blinders on. READ THIS BOOK. It may save your life and the lives of your grandchildren someday.

LOVE

I've heard the word "love" thrown around and used in vain so often, it pains me that noone seems to really understand what love is. I looked up the word "love" on dictionary.com and here's what it had to say.

love

noun1. a strong positive emotion of regard and affection; "his love for his work"; "children need a lot of love" [ant: hate] 2. any object of warm affection or devotion; "the theater was her first love"; "he has a passion for cock fighting"; 3. a beloved person; used as terms of endearment [syn: beloved] 4. a deep feeling of sexual desire and attraction; "their love left them indifferent to their surroundings"; "she was his first love" 5. a score of zero in tennis or squash; "it was 40 love" 6. sexual activities (often including sexual intercourse) between two people; "his lovemaking disgusted her"; "he hadn't had any love in months"; "he has a very complicated love life" [syn: sexual love]
verb1. have a great affection or liking for; "I love French food"; "She loves her boss and works hard for him" [ant: detest] 2. get pleasure from; "I love cooking" 3. be enamored or in love with; "She loves her husband deeply" 4. have sexual intercourse with; "This student sleeps with everyone in her dorm"; "Adam knew Eve"; "Were you ever intimate with this man?" [syn: sleep together]

Now, I'm not a theologin, or a English professor, but I have to disagree with everything above. Love isn't a feeling, or a fondness. Here is what I think love is.

Love is...

helping a neighbor put shingles on his roof for no pay and with no expectations of payment.

staying up with your kids so your wife can take a nap even though you got less sleep the night before than she did.

taking out the trash for your husband because he is too tired after work to do anything but eat and lay on the couch.

playing cards with your children until your brain is fogged over in boredom because they love it so much.

cleaning up messes that all the pets leave all over the house because your husband and your children so enjoy having the pets.

mowing the grass for your neighbor and never asking for money to pay for the gas to put in the mower.

driving 6 hours in the middle of the night with 20 minutes notice to pick up a friend who is stranded.

taking in a widow and her children after her house burns to the ground and not asking her for rent money.

reading a book to your little brother.

giving your husband a back massage after a long days work even though your hands are tired from canning tomatoes and cucumbers all day long.

rubbing your wifes feet after a long day even though you've been on your feet baking in the heat all day long.

waking excitedly to your lover's advances in the middle of the night even though you've worked hard all day and really need the rest for the coming day.

sticking by your husband when the money is all gone and the house is being foreclosed on and it seems there's no hope in sight.

cleaning out your cabinets to give groceries to a friend who doesn't have enough food to feed her children.

travelling hundreds of miles to help a stranger finish building his house so that the family will not freeze in the coming winter months.

putting a new furnace and insulatation in someone's house you barely know just because they are short on money and plentiful on children.

and last, but not least

dying on a cross to save the very people who put you there.

The dictionary version defines love as something YOU feel. God defines love as something you GIVE.

Whose Children Are These

Whose children are these that wander the street?
Have they no home where they can safely find sleep?

Who are their parents and have they no love
for the greatest gift ever from our Father above?

How can they abandon the fruit of their womb
and not care to condemn them to a cold earthen tomb?

Are we truly too busy to care for our own
or just too selfish and greedy to provide a good home?

Are we so lost in self, our own needs we must meet
that we drive out our children to live in the street?

Whose children are these who on society are thrown
in the care of some stranger to provide a safe home?

How can one not cherish one's own flesh and blood,
refuse to nurture and guide them and show them no love?

As a nation how can we expect to survive
when our children of love and concern we deprive?

Can we not see that for generations hereafter
what we now teach our children will lead to certain disaster?

Can we not see to the future when we shall grow old
that our fate in their hands these children will hold?

Do we expect them to grow into kind, loving folk
when kindness and love to them is a joke?

I think we shall see that because of our greed
for our lives to continue they will not feel the need!

They shall deem it expedient for the good of the masses
to not waste precious resources on the now useless classes.

The old and infirm that have nothing to offer
shall be euphonized with no thought or bother.

Shall we then plead for mercy and ask ourselves why
there's no love in their hearts and they want us to die?

Think back to the past when that child had a need
and we pushed him aside to fulfill our own greed!

Remember the times when love the child needed
but we were too busy, his cries went unheeded?

Remember the problems we should have helped them through
but turning our back gave them not a clue!

When we teach our children that God is not real
what, other than hatred, do we expect them to feel?

God teaches of mercy, forgiveness and grace,
and love in our heart He will abundantly place.

He builds a strong family through tolerance and care
and helps to defeat any enemies there.

I pray that our nation, before it's too late
will turn from the teaching of murder and hate.

For a land without God is already defeated
and soon will succumb to His wrath unabated!

Whose children are these who are lost and alone,
forced to exist in some stranger's home?

America's children, a land under God,
meaningless words now, just a facaad.

We all are God's children, in His image created
and He desires that in love, we should all be united!

sweet taste of country

A Different World

We were born to mothers who smoked and drank
Our cribs were covered in lead-based paint
No childproof lids
No seatbelts in cars
Rode bikes with no helmets
and still here we are
Still here we are

We got daddy's belt when we misbehaved
Had three TV channels you got up to change
No video games and no satellite
All we had were friends and they were outside
Playing outside

It was a different life
When we were boys and girls
Not just a different time
It was a different world

School always started the same everyday
the pledge of alle
giance, then someone would pray
not every kid made the team when they tried
We got disappointed but that was alright

We turned out alright

It was a different life
When we were boys and girls
Not just a different time
It was a different world

No bottled water
We'd drink from a garden hose
And every Sunday,
All the stores were closed.

It was a different life
When we were boys and girls
Not just a different time
It was a different world

It was a different life
When we were boys and girls
Not just a different time
It was a different world

It was a different world

American girls and American guys will always stand up and salute;
Will always recognize
When we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our head.

My daddy served in the army,
Where he lost his right eye.
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love has fallen under attack.
A mighty sucker punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man we lit up your world like the Fourth of July.

Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly,
And there's gonna be Hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell!
It's gonna feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you...
Brought to you courtesy of the Red, White and Blue!

Oh, Justice will be served and the battle will rage.
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
You'll be sorry that you messed with the US of A
'Cuz we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way.

Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly,
And there's gonna be Hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell!

Disgusted

I went to a Christmas program last night. My friend's children were performing at their school. They all did delightfully well, singing and playing trombone ;)...but I was so thouroughly disgusted with the whole program. It sure made me glad, that I decided to homeschool. There wasn't one hint, or even a little mention of the custom we call "Christianity" or the celebration of the birth of a king. They sang and danced about Kwanzaa and Hannuka and they did some stuff with father time and Chinese New Year with a big scary looking dragon and not even one sidenote about my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This was a very small town - the sign at their city limits boasts "Good Schools and Good Churches". HA! They don't have either one. A town of only a few hundred people and they can't even sing "Away In A Manger" at a Christmas Program.

I intend to make sure this doesn't happen to my kids. I'm going to make sure they know why we celebrate Christmas. I know that Jesus was born in September (or there abouts), but Dec 25th is the day that the nation set aside to recognize it and now they are trying to renig on the deal. Get your children an Xbox for Christmas but don't teach them the gospels of Christ. Christ - Christmas - Hmmmmm....You think there might be a connection here?

Okay, I'm off my soapbox.

Happy Holidays!

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night." "It's my duty to stand at the
front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at 'Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."
Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

Have They NO Shame?

I received the following email this morning. I get these things all the time. I stand amazed at how little shame people in our world have today. Everyone is a scam artist and noone cares about anyone but themselves and how they can benefit from the loss or expense of another. I wanted to post this just to give everyone a heads up in case you've received something similar and were not sure of it's validity. I know someone who was taken in by a similar scam using a foreign internet lottery as their bait. They could've been charged with felony theft, but were blessed enough to have a fraud claim instead; however, they were still responsible to make good on all monies taken to the tune of $3000. If you receive an email and it seems to good to be true - IT IS. The Lord can make miracles happen, but they won't come in the shape of lottery or a scam artist.

NOTE: All typos were pasted from my email directly as typed. I made no changes.

BECAUSE I'M WORTH IT

I was helping my husband to fine tune the TV ariel on the house today. It was my job to channel flip while he climbed on the house and adjusted the pole.

I happened across a show, I think I've seen before which I never watch. Women live in a house for a brief period of time to solve some problem that they share with the group.

One very young women came forward in her group and said that she gave up stripping for her son. A very noble thing to do. She gave up a thing which she considered wrong for someone else that she loves. The interesting thing was that this was not a satisfactory answer for the group and not for the attending psychologist. These people wanted her to say that she gave up the stripping for who??? "herself".

I just mentioned something related to this on some else's blog this morning. It's very sad. It's every where you turn. TV is one of the worst culprits and other types of media - magazines, radio, etc.

"because I'm worth it...", "Just do it", "I deserve better", me, me, me, me, ME!

Don't think that because I mention this, I am not susceptible to it's charms. The god of self, pride, self admonition, vanity....The world is full of it and it is a tempting and almost logical way to live, but stop! What does the Bible say?

For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
~Romans 16:18

The dictionary calls this Hedonism:

The belief that pleasure is the greatest good and highest aspiration of mankind. Self indulgence. The doctrine that pleasure is the actual, and also the proper, motive of every action.

Why do marriages fail? Why are so many children screwed up? And children coming from Christian families, not just the heathens' children? Why do people murmur about their friends, enemies, and people they don't even know - even the people at their church! Why are people angry all the time? Depressed? Why do people jump from church to church or maybe not attend church at all - because something about the situation does not MAKE THEM HAPPY!

But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
~1 Peter 3:14

This is such a hard lesson to learn and such an important one. If we don't get this one, we are dead in our tracks. We can't serve others if we are busy serving ourselves. There are only two commandments in the new testament for the age of grace.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
~Matthew 22:37-39

So do we only love the ones who give us pleasure? Those who love us back? Those who do as we think they should do for our benefit?
If only my husband would.....If only my kids would....If only my boss would....If only the pastor would.....Admit it folks, how many of you have ever said something like this? I am guilty as charged.

Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

If You Don't Like the View; Change Your Focus

Is something in your life troubling you? You are stressing on events happening in your life? Is your focus on you, on "self"?
"I don't feel good." "I am not happy." I want something more." Maybe it's time to change your focus.

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

~1 John 4:20

I've seen some interesting comments left on sites by "Christians" that I find very alarming. A lost soul, craving the love of Christ spews only hatred, because this is all she knows and this hate is returned by those who claim to love Christ.

Why would a lost person want to become like you, a "Christian", who acts no better than she. If someone spouts ugly or hateful things, should we reciprocate with vain and hurtful retaliations? Have we forgotten who we are?

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
~2 Corinthians 5:17

Have we forgotten how we became what we are?

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
~Romans 5:8

Have we gotten so absorbed in our perfect little "Christian" worlds, that we are afraid to step out of our boundaries and give charity (love) to those who need it most?

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things...13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
~1 Corinthians 13:3-7;13

Is our love only good enough for those who will love us back? Based on that theory, God shouldn't love us, but he did and he does.

We love him, because he first loved us.
~1 John 4:19

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
~John 3:16

You were lost once and if God and/or others had this shared this thinking with you, then you'd still be lost.

Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

~Luke 15:1-10

To live by His example, then you must love the lost soul BEFORE they will love you in return.

... Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
~Matthew 22:39

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
~Ephesians 5:29

He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

the moral majority?

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
~Matthew 7:13-14

The majority of people rejected Noah's preaching and died in the flood.

And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
~2 Peter 2:5

The majority of people perished in Sodom and Gomorrah.

And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
~Genesis 19:15

The majority of Israel worshipped Aaron's calf in Exodus 32.

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
~Exodus 32:1

The majority of Israel rejected the ministry of the prophets such as Jeremiah.

The majority of people rejected Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry.

The majority of people alive today reject Jesus Christ as the Saviour of the world.

The majority of Bible "scholars" and preachers reject the King James Bible is entirely scriptural.

My conclusion: The majority is anything but moral and if you like to subscribe to the old theory that "500 Chinamen can't be wrong", you might want to revise your thinking.

homeschooling is not a crime

WARNING: The following entry may contain material that may be taken personal and may be offensive to those who "fit the shoe".

This is for all the homeschool moms. Don't let anyone make you feel guilty for trying to teach your children the Truth.

I just read another blog and the author felt persecuted because she homeschools her children. The worst part is, she's not the only one, because so many people can't stand the idea of anyone "showing them up" as bad parents. Homeschoolers are fighting for their children by taking them back from the world that's trying to gobble them up and spit them back out as selfish, unrestrained, irresponsible, narcissistic, foolish, arrogant, self-serving adults.

Our schools are beginning to institute things into the curriculum that would make a Christian mother cringe with fear. I have one child in the public school system for reasons that I'd rather save for another day. She is a teen and almost graduated and the things and ideas that she comes home with from her teachers just makes me gasp. I have two small ones that I intend to homeschool, if I can ever get myself prepared. Fortunately for us, my oldest has been taught enough values at home to prevent too much of the garbage from soaking in at school. I would rather she not be there at all though, because even the best taught kids put in those surroundings will come out with some negative results. You can't just throw an apple in a blender and expect nothing to happen.

So many parents are currently ranting today about putting "prayer" back in schools. Personally, I think this is a diversion. This is not for Christian parents and children at all. I think the loudest noise is coming from those who want their kids in public school, so they don't have to raise their own children. If they raise their voices high enough about putting the prayer back, maybe no one will notice that they are not doing their job as parents.

We don't need prayer in schools. Our schools don't need to teach children to pray. They should learn that from parents and they can pray at home. God never wanted us to pray for show anyway. Prayer is to commune with Him and to make requests of Him, not to show others how spiritual we can be. If we really want or need public schools to teach our children, then we need to start forcing schools to eliminate curriculum not add to it.

When the public schools were first instituted, they were designed to teach children of uneducated families the 3 R's (reading, 'riting and 'rithmatic) in order to further their opportunities to provide for their own families when they became adults. So, where does humanism fit into the three R's? Why does a child need to understand homosexuality to be able to get a job? When did birth control, STD prevention or sex education become necessary for a career path? - unless your career choice is that of a homemaker or a sex therapist -- it's not. Dealing with sexual behavior, emotions, fears and ethnic or cultural differences, belief in creation or evolution or whatever religion you prefer is the responsibility of the parents NOT the schools.

And what about evolution? Evolution can no more be proven than creation can. In fact scientists have found more physical proof of the flood in Noah's day than they can to support evolution, so why do they teach Darwin's theory in school. What about witchcraft? Ever seen "Harry Potter"? They show it for amusement in the public schools in Kansas City where my father works. One of my daughter's teachers took it upon herself to teach her students that the ancient Egyptians were descendents of aliens. Maybe this is true. I can't prove that it's not, but she can't prove that it is, so that means she has faith in her belief (no matter how ridiculous this may sound). All of these ideologies require faith in the unproven and unseen. Faith constitutes religion. So why can the schools teach these religions when they are not permitted to teach creation and/or prayer? What happened to separation of church and state?

Most people aren't really interested in the separation of church and state. They are interested in themselves. In order to perfectly serve one's self, they must remove all sources of moral obligation and/or guilt that would otherwise make them feel differently about being completely amoral (psychologists term this behavior as "perfect psychopathy"). A person cannot completely serve themselves if they believe that there is a God deserving of their service or if they believe that they may be morally obligated to serve another as to nurture a spouse or love a child.

These people are offended by your ambition to homeschool because they either don't see anything wrong with the public school system or more likely they don't want to face the truth about themselves. This would require them to take a look at their own morality and/or mortality and face the hopelessness and emptiness of their own lives before considering that what their kids are learning at school might be wrong. Some just don't care because they are so deep in self-serving behavior that they don't have time to raise their children and they want the schools to raise their children for them. They blame the schools when their children get out of control and they refuse to take any responsibility for these "monsters" they've created. They scorn homeschoolers because they feel GUILTY. They FEEL guilty because they ARE guilty. They scorn you because they want you to feel guilty in their stead. Don't you dare!

I was raised in the public school system and it was pretty bad then, but it's continually getting worse and if you've decided to take your children and jump ship, then God bless you for it. Teach your kids at home and by the time your children are old enough to need specialized training for an occupation which requires it, they should be well protected with what you've taught them at home. They can get in, get the knowledge they need and get out without a scratch.

If you have in any way become offended by reading this material, maybe you should take a step back and figure out "why?". Parents, it's time to wake up. Fight this world and take your kids back by any means you can before it's too late. By all means, change the public school system, but do it right. Don't waste your time on trivial matters which distract you from the real root of the problem. Your child's immortal soul may depend on it.
disclaimer:  caution must be taken when reading my blog.  i'm a new creature and the Lord continues to mold and shape me through his will.  older entries may seem to contradict the newer ones.  there's a pretty good chance that they do for two reasons.  first, because of my nature, as i strive for perfection, i will continue to fall short of the mark and should therefore be thankful for his grace and should seek his (and your) forgiveness for having been so foolish in the past.   second, i continue to grow in him; and as changes are made, i have made attempts to change my blog to reflect those changes. in this event, please refer to #1.   if you're interested in perfection, my blog isn't the place to be.  pick up a king james bible (yup, i'm one of THOSE people) and read his PERFECT word.
